Yesterday, I went to see the famous Bay Area thrashers, Death Angel, together with Cheryl and friend Craig. The gig was awesome! They played for 1.5 hours, and the setlist was amazing with new and a ton of old songs, including some that they don’t often play.

It is interesting how their name scares a lot of people off, but actually they are not evil, dead, or death metal. The riffs are funky, the lyrics are catchy, and they are more accessible than your Slayer or other popular thrash metal bands. So if you are into metal, check these guys out!

I am going to see them again next week at the Magic Circle Festival, among bands such as Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Manowar! Check out the Death Angel pics by clicking the pic below…

Since I have just lived through Rock Im Park 2008 I decided to update my concert attendence sheet. Check it out here to see what bands I have seen live. This summer there are a couple of more gigs and one more festival to go to for me, so I will keep you posted.

Speaking of music, I just bought a pile of new albums from rock n roll bands like The Hellacopters and The Bones, and metal bands like Judas Priest and In Flames. Hmmm, music, you gotta love it! Keep on rocking everybody!

I have fallen a bit behind with this blog - my apologies! In fact, I have been travelling this week for work. I was in Holland at a Dutch Game Conference which took place in Utrecht. There happened to be a Dutch game on as well, so I watched that with my brother, his girlfriend and some other people!

And we went to a concert of the 36 Crazyfits together (not really my kind of band, but it was fun nevertheless). I took only a few low-quality pictures of my week in Holland. There are not any pictures of the gig though. You can see them by clicking the pic below.

And then a bit older, but still awesome, are pictures that we took during the Holland - France match. We got together with 12 people, and afterwards we also went into town to celebrate the victory of the Dutch. So you can check these pictures here now as well.

Tonight we are going to the Aschaffenburg Volksfest! In the gallery you can see what was going on there two years ago. Tonight me, Cheryl and Becky are going there to experience the opening fireworks, more football, bratwurst, and big beers. More on that later…

I have uploaded two new photo albums for you all to enjoy. One covers my experience of this weekend at Rock Im Park 2008, and the other last night’s UEFA Euro Holland vs Italy (3-0!!!) experience in Aschaffenburg. What a weekend. Near the end of the workday I seriously had trouble staying awake. I am so happy!

Me and my friend Flip just returned from our Rock Im Park 2008 adventure! Oh boy, what a festival that was! After having been to already more than 10 major festivals in the last eight years I was not sure if I could still do it, but I did it again; I am alive!

I saw major bands such as Metallica and Rage Against Machine, as well as a ton of smaller amazing bands that blew me away. Some other highlights were Danko Jones, Cavalera Conspiracy, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Tide and so much more. We also went to all the after parties. I think I must have slept a total of 12 hours in the last three days.

I am going to upload some pictures for you to enjoy! I will update this post when they are online. First I have to go out (again) to watch Holland play Italy with my friends here in Aschaffenburg. Life is good, live it to the max! (yes, the adrenaline is keeping me awake - METALLICAAA!!)

Are you all having a good weekend? So far mine has been fab! Last night I watched Independence Day on Blu-Ray! Oh, that was good! The image quality was brilliant and I had not seen the movie since it was released back in 1996. It is pretty cheesy in parts, but it is kinda interesting to see how some scenes in the movie would cause a lot of controversy nowadays (e.g. references to Iraq, terrorism, twin towers, etc). And the special effects in this flick are still awesome.

Also, our car’s front shield broke again due to the impact of a small stone on the highway. This is the third time we had our front shield replaced. It always happens on the A3 whenever we go to Holland. It is because of people that speed in areas where you are only supposed to go 50 because there are roadworks (and thus a lot of stones laying around). So that cost us another 300 bucks right there. Tssst!

So I guess financially my weekend hasn’t been all that good, but I am having fun anyway. Now I am going to cook some dinner for us to eat on the balcony. And maybe tonight we will head in town for some drinks. If not, I will play some WiiWare games on the Wii… sweetness!

So let’s try this mobile blogging again! I am now at the airport waiting for my plane to board. Today’s destination is London. I have some meetings in our UK branch. Exciting!

Normally when you want to fly into London you have to go through two security checks; one arranged by Germans, and one controlled by the Brittish, because they don’t trust each other.

It seems like they now opened a new gate for flights to England, and they got rid of the second security check! This is nice as it saves me 20 minutes - this gate is also much less far away.

Anyway, I will stop boring you with details on the airport. Have a great day everyone!

Update: argh! My plane is delayed due to bad weather in London. Where am I going to? Here in Germany the weather is beautiful with 31 degree sunshine!

I posted a lot of new pictures today. Oh, and I am not sure if you noticed, but last week I posted a new photo album as well in the gallery on this blog. This one shows off my family and my experience during the yearly Dutch family gathering in The Netherlands.

Among today’s uploaded photo albums we have one that contains some nice pictures of my hometown, and the second has some weird pictures of me and my friends hanging, eating mexican food and waiting for Indiana Jones 4 to start in the cinema!

I will not tell you too much about the movie, but I kinda enjoyed it! It wasn’t as good as any of the other Indie movies (duh), but there definitely were some old-school moments in there. My biggest concern was that there were too many loose ends in the movie. And that is all I will say for now!
